Lynsey Wood

Clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience

Lynsey Wood is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working across both public and private mental health settings. She spent much of her career working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, supporting children, adolescents and their families experiencing complex mental health difficulties, while also maintaining a private practice, working across the lifespan.

These experiences shaped Lynsey's belief that mental health does not exist in isolation. She takes a systemic approach to her work, recognising that our wellbeing is influenced by our relationships, families and communities around us. She understands the importance of supporting not only the individual, but also the wider system in which they live, helping families develop greater understanding, connection and resilience.

Lynsey has a particular interest in neurodivergence and has extensive experience supporting young people and adults wishing to explore their neurotype. She has a particular appreciation for the journey many parents undertake when their child's diagnosis prompts them to explore their own experiences and identity. Lynsey conducts Autism assessments for adolescents aged 16 and over and adults. She adopts a strengths-based approach using formal assessment tools.

Lynsey is also particularly passionate about women's mental health. She understands the profound impact that hormonal changes can have on emotional wellbeing throughout a woman's life, from puberty through to perimenopause and menopause. Lynsey has experience in the treatment of PMDD and in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause. She recognises that this time can sometimes bring unexpected changes in mood, anxiety, emotional regulation and day-to-day functioning. Women with previously well-managed mental health difficulties may find these challenges re-emerge during periods of hormonal change. Lynsey is passionate about helping women understand what is happening for them, access appropriate support, and feel less alone in their experience.

Her approach draws on evidence-based therapies including EMDR, Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Lynsey works alongside clients to better understand their experiences, build on their strengths and create meaningful change.
