EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a gentle, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process memories and experiences that may feel “stuck” or overwhelming.

Sometimes difficult experiences remain emotionally charged long after they have occurred. These experiences can be obvious, such as a car accident, medical event, loss or other traumatic experience. They can also be less obvious experiences, such as repeated criticism, feeling excluded, being treated unfairly, or growing up without the support or validation you needed. Over time these experiences can influence how we feel about ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories, so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. The goal is not to erase memories, but to help them become part of your story without continuing to overwhelm or disrupt your present life.

EMDR sessions involve brief sets of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, while you stay connected, supported, and in control.

EMDR can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, phobias, grief, and moments in life that felt too big to manage alone.
