Perimenopause, Menopause and PMDD

Lynsey has a particular interest in supporting women through perimenopause, menopause, and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause and is often accompanied by significant hormonal changes. For some women, these changes can affect emotional wellbeing, contributing to symptoms such as increased anxiety, low mood, irritability, emotional overwhelm, difficulties with concentration and memory, sleep disturbance, and changes in self-confidence and identity. Women who have a history of mental health difficulties, ADHD, Autism, trauma, or PMDD may find that these symptoms become more pronounced during this stage of life.

Lynsey recognises that perimenopause and menopause can be a complex and often misunderstood time. She provides a supportive space to explore the emotional, psychological, relational, and practical challenges that can arise during this life stage transition.

Emerging research suggests that the evidence-based psychological therapies listed above can play an important role in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause. Therapy may help women manage anxiety, low mood, stress, adjustment difficulties, sleep concerns, and changes in identity and self-esteem.

Lynsey works collaboratively with women to better understand their experiences, develop practical coping strategies, strengthen self-compassion, and navigate this stage of life with greater confidence and wellbeing.
